Gaskell and Chambers

of Dalex Works, Coleshill Street, Birmingham.

1797 Company founded.

1897 Public company formed as Gaskell and Chambers and Foulkes. The company was registered on 30 May, to take over the business of Gaskell and Chambers, bar-fitters and beer-engine manufacturers, and of A. D. Foulkes sanitary engineer.

1899 Name changed. The sanitary engineering portion of the business was disposed of.

1902 The kindred business of Yates and Greenway was taken over.

1961 Engineers, brass founders, pewterers, coppersmiths, cabinet makers, barfitters and manufacturers of equipment for hotels and licences houses, including "Dalex" bar engines, "Hygex Sillerite" cellar systems, "Optic Pearl" and non-drip measuring taps and refrigerated equipment. Also designers and suppliers of milk, snack and coffee bars, canteen, kitchen and general catering equipment. 1,200 employees.

1972 Acquired by MK Refrigeration

By 1977 was part of MKR Holdings Ltd
